As we met together this week singing praises to our wonderful God, the Holy Spirit emphasized the line of a song:

Nothing compares to the promise I have in You…”

We give grateful thanks to our Lord Jesus for all the promises He has fulfilled in our lives, but is there one, or are there some, that you remember were clearly given to you that caused your spirit to leap in witness at the time of delivery? Have you begun to doubt with the passage of time?…..or has your promise been forgotten or buried by the cares and busyness of every day life? Did your heart begin to doubt?

Let us remind ourselves of this fact, Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?”

Hold fast to the promise God has given you. We do not come “cap in hand” to an unapproachable God, but through the finished work of Calvary, we come boldly to the throne of grace through our great High Priest, our Lord Jesus, (Hebrews 4:14-16).

Ecclesiastes 3:1 declares, “To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
Our Heavenly Father does not need our “help” to fulfill His word to us. Abraham got tired of waiting for God to fulfill His word to him and decided to “help God out,” but all he produced was Ishmael, trouble and strife! When God speaks, His word is creative and it will surely fulfill itself at the appointed time. Let us hold fast in our hearts the promises He has given. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, powerful, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

There is a “rest” of God we can enter into, (Hebrews 4). When God has spoken, He gives us the gift of faith to believe His word will come to pass at His appointed time. Many have heard that faith in God includes faith in His timing! This is not a position of doleful resignation, but one of peace and trust in a loving Heavenly Father who is not interested in a “quick fix”. Our Father is working with us, “bringing many sons/daughters to glory”….it is an on-going life-time’s work, conforming us to the image of His beloved Son, Jesus, bringing us step by step to full stature.

There is a stirring in the heavens. IT IS TIME TO DECLARE AND PROCLAIM! In your closet, in your secret place with your Heavenly Father, remind yourself of the promises He has given you and declare them over the people and situations He has given you His word for. Proclaim His love for you and your people. “Joseph’s feet were held in irons until the time of His word came.” Psalm 105:17-20. Enter the rest of God in your heart, rejoice and trust in God’s perfect timing! Resistance brings pain, yielding brings the peace of God. When you allow a situation to dictate to your feelings, you miss God. Only what God says is true and His word can divide asunder any situation, in His perfect timing. He makes all things beautiful in His time, (Ecccles.3:11)

“Nothing compares to the promise I have in You,” the song goes…..NOTHING!

Psalm 145 encourages us to DECLARE the greatness of our wonderful Father God!
