We all love good news, especially when we have been experiencing a lack of it.  With the digital technology availabe today at a touch of our fingertips, any news quickly becomes old news, as time moves on.  However, over 2000 years ago, in a field near Bethlehem, the Creator of the world spoke through His angelic host, announcing good news to some humble shepherds keeping the night watch over their sheep.

Something happened that day that changed the whole earth.  The angel of the Lord proclaimed the good news bringing glad tidings of great joy.  This was no ordinary news bulletin, it was supernatural!  How would you react if an angel turned up in the night sky bringing you a message?  This was a spectacular phenomenon, but the angel’s message was not just for the shepherds, but for ALL men.

Luke 2: 9-14: “And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to ALL people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord’………….and suddenly there was with the angel a heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men’ “.

The birth of the Saviour of mankind changed everything.  He is no longer little baby Jesus in the manger.  Through His life, death, resurrection and ascension to heaven, He redeemed the world and made salvation available to all who recognise their need of a saviour.  There is a divine transaction that takes place when a person invites Jesus into their life, granting forgiveness for sin and His enabling power to live the Christian life.

John 3:16 proclaims God’s gift to mankind: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should nor perish but have everlasting life”.

In our ever changing world and circumstances, God never changes.  His love, thoughts and plans for mankind are timeless.  His message of “peace on earth, goodwill toward men” ever stands, solid as a rock.  This is not old news.  My choice allows God’s peace to rule my heart instead of allowing circumstances to dictate my mindset.  Colossians 3:15 “LET the peace of God rule in your hearts…….”  After entering into salvation, no matter how difficult our circumstances in life, He has promised to never leave us.  He abides faithful.  The Lord Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace and declared, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”, Matthew 5:9.

As each new day dawns, remember, God makes all things new.  With Jesus as our fellow traveller, He makes our journey brighter.  Immanuel – God with us.  He promised never to leave us.

We send warmest wishes to all our readers this Christmas season.  May you have a joyous, Christ filled Christmas and may the timeless message of peace on earth, goodwill towards men remain a constant renewing in your hearts and homes afresh continually, in a practical demonstration as our lives declare ‘glory to God in the highest’.
