Are You Satisfied With Jesus

Are You Satisfied With Jesus

Am I satisfied with Jesus?  1 Timothy 6:6 declares “Godliness with contentment is great gain”, GREAT gain!  Am I fully living in, and believing, this truth?  It is easy to sing the little chorus:

I am satisfied, satisfied with Jesus.
I am satisfied, satisfied with Him.
Every need has been supplied,
Praise the Lord, I’m satisfied.
Wholly satisfied, satisfied with Him”

Am I wholly satisfied with Jesus?  If this can be said of me, then all my other questions are destined for the delete bin.  It is easy to make the mistake of putting the onus on God instead of understanding that the responsibility is mine to find my satisfaction wholly in Him, in His person, His character, His infallible attributes and unchanging Word.  Jesus said: “Seek and you shall find….” Matthew 7:7-8.

Jeremiah 29: 13-14 declares “You will find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you”.  There is a place where I can find satisfaction in who He is, rather than majoring on what His hand supplies.  The greater includes the lesser!  Seek His face, not His hand!

The incorruptible seed placed within every born-again Believer, like all seeds, needs the right environment to grow.  If the written word of God, the Bible, and a company of Believers are available for fellowship, then the D.N.A. of Jesus in that seed will break out, manifest and grow.  (God has His own supernatural ways to lead people in countries where these two vital ingredients are unavailable.)  God has made provision and desires for each of us to know Him as our God and Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. At our re-birth He placed a desire in our hearts for Him.  The onus is on us.  Only as we continue to seek His face will we get to know Him more.  To know Him is to love Him.  To love Him is to serve Him.  We were created for His good pleasure and His heart longs for fellowship with us on a daily basis, to be included in all we think and do.  The Psalmist declares God’s thoughts towards us are more than the grains of sand! (Psalm 139: 17-18).  Unfathomable love and goodness!

What is the secret to this satisfaction with Jesus?  John 15 provides the answer.  “Abiding in the Vine”.  Jesus has made the way through Calvary and His word teaches us of His provision in our birthright in Him to a new way of living.  This divine life is our inheritance in Christ.  The New Testament Gospels, the Epistles of Paul declare the infallible word of God.  The God inspired scriptures, given to, and written by, the hands of men are available as our hand book for life, the Bible.  The Holy Spirit can quicken the written word to any of us and make it a living word for our circumstances.  There is nothing old, or stale in Jesus.  His mercies are new every morning, ( Lamentations 3:23)

John 4 records the discourse between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.  John 4: 13-14 “Jesus said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again.  But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”.  This divine life of Jesus is promised to us as we abide in the Vine.  Abiding is the secret of satisfaction in Jesus.  As I walk each day in surrender and humility, choosing to crucify my will and fleshly desires, the divine Life of Jesus will spring up from within as He promised. As I surrender my stubborn will, His Life flows freely, unhindered.  This is Christ in me, the hope of glory!  All credit to the Lord.

John 13:35 Jesus declared “By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love one to another”.  This statement of Jesus is simple to understand and is challenging.  How many in the Body of Christ do not fulfil the criteria because of disagreement, falling out with people, judging others, simple biases and refusing to walk in love?  Only as I walk in Jesus command to love others as He has loved us, will I find true satisfaction in Him.  Otherwise I am deceiving myself that I am satisfied with Jesus.  A heart satisfied with Jesus will live a life to the glory of God, not a heart governed by selfish motives.

When Jesus returns, or when my earthly life is ended, what will He find in me?  Will I be in an acceptable place with my brothers and sisters in Christ, with unbelievers, with God, with Jesus and the Holy Spirit?  God challenges us from His written word: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts….”,  Hebrews 3:15.
