Psalm 78 is the record of the journey of the children of Israel after their exodus from the bondage of Egypt. A whole generation, (apart from Joshua and Caleb), never made it to the Promised Land because of their complaining and unbelief. Psalm 78:19 “Yes, they spoke against God, they said, “Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?” After all the miracles they had witnessed, they doubted and complained which led them to ask the question: “Can God…?.”

Reason is the treason of the Believer! In finality, our reasoning must bow to Jesus’ Lordship. He is “Lord of all”, but I must give Him that position that is rightfully His, surrender in my heart and make Him “Lord of all” in everything. It is a daily choice. If I don’t make Him Lord of all in my life with all its challenges, then He is not Lord at all there. The truth is I have usurped His authority! Selah…… He is the Master of every situation and waits for us to invite Him in and release our control of it. As we learn to trust Him we discover the place of “His rest” is becoming our rest, even among the chaos. God works His purposes out as we release control of things, and learn to only make a move when He directs. God’s ways and thoughts are far greater than ours, (Isaiah 55: 8-9).
How do I bring my needs to the Lord? Philippians 4:6 “……but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” Our spiritual journey with the Lord encompasses many learning curves. The deeper our relationship develops, the more we desire to see things through God’s eyes instead of ours. In this position I discover that God’s view of my needs, is very different to mine. In humility I can ask Him to show me my greater need, which is His purpose in developing another measure of His Son in me. This is God’s desire, His purpose in me. There is always treasure to be found in the trial. Only God knows my real need and I must “learn of Him”.
God’s need, His purpose in me, “the greater”, will include my need, “the lesser”. I just need to develop sensitivity to view my life through God’s perspective first, instead of wanting everything in my way, my timing, for my comfort.
God loves me, loves you and delights to bless us. Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord maketh rich and adds no sorrow with it” God cannot deny His word, or change. If something is not working in my life, the problem lies with me, not God. He has provided everything I need in His Son and His finished work at Calvary. There, all battles ended and Christ’s victorious life became the birthright of every Believer. Let us stop limiting God in doubts and unbelief and continue our journey in Christ’s provision. He is our “Promised Land”.
Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer”
Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life. In Your presence is fullness of joy, and at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore”
