God’s words are creative.  When He speaks, it is so.  We are made in His image and He has granted us the power of life and death in the tongue.

Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God  created He him.  Male and female created He them”,

Proverbs 18: 21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.  They that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

Scripture declares our calling in 1 Corinthians 1: 26-31….not many wise, noble or mighty, but the foolish, the weak, the base, the despised, the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.  It is because of Him we are in Christ Jesus who has made to us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written, He that boasts, let him boast in the Lord.

We qualify as “the are nots” of the above scripture, but not to stay as are nots because God has called us in Christ to be His sons.  He has made the way for us to be positive with our negatives, taking every thought captive.  2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.

I have a choice every day not to allow the negatives to rule my life.  I can exchange my weakness for strength in Christ, my lack of understanding for His peace, as I choose to trust Him for the unknown.  Practice living in His presence.  When you practice something, it is something you choose to do again and again until it becomes a way of life.  God is seeking to establish the Life of His Son in us to rule and reign in our hearts.

When I yield and surrender to Christ, He grants me His gift of faith and ability to go through what I was unable to navigate.

Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

A belief in the impossible demands a refusal to believe the obvious!

Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man that He should lie…….has He said and shall He not do it?  Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?”

I have a choice to declare God’s faithfulness to me in the trials of life, or murmur and complain about my lot.  It is well to remember the children of Israel never entered their Promised Land because of their complaining and unbelief.  When I have allowed discouragement to rule my heart, it should trigger an alarm in my spirit that refuses to go futher down the spiralling pit of despond.  This is the time to encourage myself in the Lord and prove that God is who He says He is.  Psalm 16:5 declares “O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup.  You maintain my lot”  My heavenly Father is greater than any circumstance that presents itself.  I can discover the treasure in the trial as I “learn of Him”, declaring “true and righteous are all Your ways , O Lord”.  An “amen” to the Lord spoken humbly in surrender to His will, has a sweetness in it.  Spoken any other way is false.  Strife belongs to struggle.  There is a creative force within us to speak life or death.  God has given us the key, surrender, let go and let God!  Faith must find its expression on our lips to ‘speak to the mountain’ .

“Without faith it is impossible to please God…..”  Hebrews 11:6

L.H. Edmonds penned the following hymn. Verse 1 reads:

My faith has found a resting place, not in device nor creed,

I trust the Ever-living One, His wounds for me shall plead”

Today, and in the coming week, may our faith in Jesus find that place of rest for our souls, practising living in His presence, seeing God in all things.
