In Psalm 51 David prayed “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me………..(then I can teach others )”. When we have repented with godly sorrow over our failures and have received forgiveness, deliverance and restoration from the Lord Jesus, we have a rock solid testimony of God’s grace to share with others.
Christ’s blood redeems our failure and sin when we walk in truth. The Holy Spirit will direct us to the “counter” for truth. Truth has to be “bought”. It will cost me my pride as I confess my sin and walk in transparency. 1 John 1:5 “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all”.
Proverbs 23:23 declares “Buy the truth and do not sell it”. What is the coin of this realm to be used in this transaction? Humility, I have to humble myself, firstly to God, secondly to the counter (person), the Lord directs me to. For example, it is of no use confessing to the Pastor if I have sinned against my wife in an extra marital affair, I need to confess to my wife and ask her forgiveness, taking all the blame for my wrong doing.
Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). They are divinely married to each other. If I am running out of grace, I need to embrace more truth before the Lord, in order to move on. Humility is ALWAYS key. 1 Peter 5:5 “…..for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble”.
I am a custodian of the River of Life granted to me when I entered into salvation. This life is the life of Another, the Lord Jesus Christ. If it is not flowing freely through me and out to others, I have a blockage. The blockage can take many forms but is rooted in my pride in some form. Only the Holy Spirit of truth can show us where the blockage is as pride causes a blindness…..then we have homework to do, in order for our Father to turn His tap of grace on again for our lives.
When Jesus brings us through the trial, we marvel and rejoice in His forgiveness, freedom and grace we are experiencing. As we seek the kingdom of God first, we discover it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom, (Luke 12:31-32). As we enjoy the grace of God, let us not forget its purpose. 2 Peter 3:18 encourages us to “Grow in grace”. How do we grow in grace? Yes, grace is to be enjoyed, but as God has given it to us in bucketfuls, let us not dispense it to others by the spoonful! As we are gracious to others, we will grow in His grace. God is the Source, we are the channel for the life of Jesus to flow through to others, all the credit/glory is God’s……and we bask in the benefits of His love and grace.
Buy the truth……grow in grace……
