You and I have a destiny in Christ Jesus to fulfil in this God given window of time granted to each of us. Ephesians 1: 4-6 declares : “According as He  has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestinated us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved”.

I know I am eternally secure in the finished work of Christ that I entered into through the door of my personal salvation.  That was the beginning of my earthly, spiritual journey.

Fanny Crosby penned the hymn of her spiritual journey, “All the way my Saviour leads me”.  This lady, blinded as a young baby through the malpractice of a “Quack”, bore the consequences of loss of sight her whole life.  She did not allow bitterness to be her focus, but had a deep, beautiful relationship with the Lord Jesus, writing numerous hymns with profound spiritual depth.

If I am waiting at a bus stop, eventually a bus will arrive with its destination displayed on it, but if I do not step on the bus I will never arrive there!  The Lord grants us windows of opportunities at times to “get on the bus” of His  divine purpose to take a step towards our destiny.  Yes, our salvation is secure, but our earthly journey with Him bristles with opportunities to be guided by the Holy Spirit to the higher ground of our relationship with Jesus.

Consider this: The greater includes the lesser.

Jesus said “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness  and all these things will be added unto You”, Matthew 6:33.  He also said, “The kingdom of God is within you”, Luke 17:21.  We so often major on “things” instead of majoring on our relationship with Jesus, “the greater”.

Jesus’ number one was, and is, His relationship with His Father.  He always chose to consult Him in everything, surrender His will, and please Him in all He said, and did.  Jesus fulfilled His earthly destiny.  Am I fulfilling mine?  God wants to be number One in my life, in yours.  In the past we may have brought our prayer lists of wants before Him, not realising that God has an unfulfilled desire in His heart towards us.  He created us for His good pleasure and His deepest desire is for a closer relationship with us.  God wants to be wanted!

Jesus’ relationship with His Father did not begin when He turned the water into wine, “this beginning of miracles”.  There was a window in time for that, but it is ALWAYS time for a relationship with the Lord.  I will not find my “rest” in looking to see what God is doing.  I will find rest in my relationship with Jesus.  The greater includes the lesser!

The “greater” to Jesus was His relationship with His Father.  He humbled Himself to be born as a babe in the womb of a woman.  He was as helpless as a babe as you and I were, and yet He grew and developed His relationship with His heavenly Father in an ordinary, earthly home, learning obedience.  The choice to humble Himself continued throughout His earthly life, even to His death on the cross.  We are without excuse.  He was our forerunner that we could become reconciled through His sacrifice to become the sons of God.  Destined for deity, Christ in us, the hope of glory.

The challenge is, will I fulfil my divine destiny in Christ?  Will I humble myself and be led into a deeper relationship with Jesus?  I do not have to beg and plead for this.  He desires it far more than I.  It is my birthright in Christ.  I am the holdup, not He.

Don’t sit around mistakenly thinking you are waiting for God, humble yourself and step on the bus of destiny.  Humility will lead to another measure of the fullness of the Son in us, and a deeper desire to live closer as we continue to see things through Christ’s eyes.  A godly perspective will change our whole way of thinking, transformed for eternity, indwelt by Deity!

This is my Father’s world and He invites me to walk through it with Him every day.
