Jesus Christ was a man of great passion. His driving passion was primarily to do the will of His Father, for His Father’s glory. Jesus was not ruled by men’s needs, but the “greater” includes the “lesser.” The greater, His Father’s will, incidentally included the lesser, men’s need. Jesus went to Calvary and endured the Cross because His passion was to do His Father’s will.

Jesus said, “I came not to do my own will but the will of my Father who sent me.” The redemption of mankind with His plan of salvation was birthed from the heart of God: John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

If I allow myself to be dictated to and directed by men’s needs, I will be worn out. If I am firstly related to the Lord, He then directs me to a specific need in His divine purpose for me and others. Jesus’ spiritual ears were always tuned in to His Father’s will and direction. John 5:30 (amplified version), “I am able to do nothing from myself, independently, but as I am taught of God and I get His orders, I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the Voice comes to me, so I give a decision. Even as I hear, I judge, and My judgement is just and righteous. I seek not to do my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.”

Is my choice to allow the Indwelling Christ within me to have full sway of my being, that He may reign supreme in my heart? The truth is that I often do not, but it is my choice to allow God to work with me for change.

Do I believe that unconditional surrender to the King of Heaven can be a way of life and my daily portion? The process began at my salvation when I entered in through Heaven’s Door – the Lord Jesus Christ, received His incorruptible seed of new birth into the Kingdom of God and exchanged my old life of sin and self-rule, for His glorious one of forgiveness and new life. A divine exchange took place and God’s own Son now lives in me. From that moment the incorruptible seed of God took root and began to grow. Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you,” Luke 17:21. As we progress along our spiritual journey on earth, the Holy Spirit of God works with us, teaches us, woos us with the loving kindness and long suffering of the love of God. Humility and obedience produce the right environment for healthy growth of the incorruptible seed within us. The Indwelling Christ will mature to another level within us and manifest as we daily surrender our will to His until it becomes a lifestyle.

The alternative is that I stubbornly hang on to “my rights” and “self-rule” in my heart, preventing the Son of God coming to full stature. The loss of my identity, self-rule, creates the Living Christ in me! But what a tragedy if I waste my life on my own will and glory…a joyless existence. The King of Heaven has made available to “whosoever” a divine inheritance. The Kingdom of God is our birthright – the fullness of Christ!

While on earth, the motive behind every act of Jesus Christ was to do His Father’s will for the Father’s glory. God chose me for His glory,my part was, and is, to respond to His call. The Indwelling Christ, Christ in me, has no issue in His will, it is settled, His motive is to glorify God. I must choose to allow God to re-set my motives, to surrender and come “in line” with Christ in me. If I want change in my life, and God surely does, I need to get with the programme, surrender and humble to God first, and then others – the GREATER includes the lesser!

As I surrender my agenda and receive the truth, Christ in me is released for God’s glory as a consequence of making that choice. A yielded heart can become a lifestyle as the living Christ is released from me to extend His kingdom to others. The Lord Jesus has only one motive – to glorify His Father in Heaven.
