THE WEAVER’S SONG – Author Unknown

Not till the loom is silent and the shuttle may cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas and reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are just as needful in the Weaver’s skilful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

Sometimes there are threads of disappointment, there are dark threads of sorrow and pain,
Hold fast, for God still holds the shuttle, there’ll be bright threads of victory again.

Ah, the day is nearly over and the last threads are almost in place,
Then we’ll stand adorned in the beauty of a robe that’s been woven by His grace.

It is God who is in control of my life. I do not know all His plans for me, but can rest assured that I can trust my unknown future to a known and very wonderful Heavenly Father. The more I get out of my depth and control of my life and trust God with it, the more amazed I am that I waited so long to prove Him. Malachi 3 : 10, “Prove Me now says the Lord of hosts”. What liberty to know Him and rest in His control of my life.

Until I reach the impossible, I do not touch the resources of God!

James 5:7, “Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it”. God is the husbandman and He has been waiting for me, and I thought I was waiting for Him! God is not sleeping on His throne, He is very active.

The last verse of the Weaver’s song quoted above talks of the robe, the garment God has been weaving with the various threads of circumstance in our individual lives. Oh!….how I have got in the Divine Weaver’s way trying to weave my own robe and help Him out with my “good” ideas and plans which were not of Him. He has patiently waited till I have come to the end of myself and given Him control of the shuttle to spin the garment of grace, His plans. He has used all the threads and woven it into a beautiful garment for His glory, not mine! The song says, “The last threads are almost in place”. God is weaving the threads of His rest and His peace into the garment He has prepared to adorn us with, to demonstrate to a lost and seeking world, the power of a greater attraction, the Lord Jesus Christ! – Christ in us, the hope of glory!

There is a place of rest for the people of God, to live amongst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and yet carry the peace of God’s presence, just as Jesus did. He was the pattern man.

Never surrender the presence of God to a situation.

God requires me to surrender the control of my life to Him. When a person swims he takes his feet off the bottom. It makes no difference if the water depth is 7′, 70′ or 700′. He is swimming. I must learn to take my feet off the bottom and release the control of my life to my Heavenly Father and trust Him until He reveals His plan for me.

Another law takes over – Romans 8:2, “The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death”. PROVE ME NOW!

The last verse of William Cowper’s hymn “God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform” says:

Blind unbelief is sure to err, and scan His work in vain,
God is His own interpreter and He will make it plain.

In my daily circumstances of life I choose to apply my intellect e.g. eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, or I bow to God.

My intellect verses God!

As I choose between the two, I will bow to one or the other. Whichever I choose will be the god, or God in my life. It is the difference between permission or purpose – life! Choose life!
