Is there a mountain in your life that is impassable?  Is there a river you cannot cross?  See them through God’s eyes as divine opportunities to prove Him.   Our Heavenly Father waits for us to invite Him into our weakness to demonstrate His strength, bringing glory to His name.  Opportunity knocks……

2 Corinthians 12:9  “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me.”

We have spoken recently about Abraham’s journey of faith.  God waited until Abraham and Sarah had reached an age when it was physically impossible for Sarah to conceive, but at the set time, God performed the impossible and fulfilled His promise and Isaac was born to them in old age.

In Romans 4, 13-25,  Paul describes part of Abraham’s journey.  God had to bring him to the end of himself first.  Abraham had tried to fulfil God’s promise in his own strength, instead of waiting for God to open Sarah’s womb.  He had fathered Ishmael with Sarah’s maid, Hagar, but Ishmael was not the child of God’s divine purpose and promise.  How often we have birthed our  “Ishmaels” and run ahead of God in our impatience to see His promises fulfilled.

Abraham is brought to the place where his eyes are fixed firmly on the God of the impossible, his mistakes have become his learning curves.  Romans 4:17-24 , speaking of Abraham now considering and believing God, “…..who quickens the dead and calls the things which be not, as though they were……and being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead when he was about 100 years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb.  HE STAGGERED NOT AT THE PROMISE OF GOD THROUGH UNBELIEF, but was strong in faith giving glory to God.  And being FULLY PERSUADED that, what He had promised, He was able to perform………”

Have you come to the place, like Abraham, where you are fully persuaded that God is able to perform and fulfil His promise to you?  Or are you having a fit of “the staggers”, considering your ailing body, considering the impasse on your mountain?  Turn your gaze heavenwards and refuse all sense knowledge and unbelief.  “Prove me now”, says the Lord!   God is able to make all grace abound to us and make us strong in Him.  We cannot do it of ourselves, “He works in us to will and to do, of His good pleasure”. As I surrender to Him, He works with me to make me willing, and He enables me to do His will.  In finality,  God’s is the glory for my willingness and doing and I discover that His will is not only His good pleasure, but mine too!  In retrospect, I discover what David meant when he said,  “I delight to do Thy will, O God”,  Psalm 40:8.  You cannot perform the will of God miserably, God’s will is sweet…..(because mine is surrendered).

So….when divine opportunity comes knocking, don’t draw the bolt across the door, swing wide the door and “let the King of glory in”. Your divine destiny awaits, bristling with opportunity to move mountains and slay giants by the faith of the Son of God.  He has placed it in your hands.  Use it for His glory!
