Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Verse 1 declares, “There is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” God works in our lives to extend His kingdom in us through the Indwelling Christ, for His purposes and glory.

Often there are times of silence from heaven in a Believer’s life. In our impatience we often say, “If only God would give me a sign,” or question, “Why should this thing be?” or declare, “God is not speaking!” What I need to be aware of is the workings of God in my life. The work of patience is much needed for ALL GOD’S SAINTS.

Waiting and “Being Still” is an internal activity of great importance to a Believer. It is a big discipline. If God is telling us to wait it is in our own interest to obey…..going ahead of God brings grave consequences.

Picture a dog learning to “sit and stay” until his master releases that command. We, also, should be learning to stay still….until…See Psalm 105:19, speaking of Joseph in prison, “UNTIL the time that His word came: the word of the Lord tried him.”

If we have not heard CLEARLY further instruction we should continue on with the former…..UNTIL. I must keep my heart clear of all that is not of God, ” for out of it are the issues of life.” Can I expect to hear clearly if my heart is not resting and still? NO!!

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” What a tremendous picture of the Body of Christ “mounting up” with wings as eagles not as tame old ducks as in the following passage:-

“I think my life is a tame old duck
Dibbling round in the farm yard muck,
Fat and lazy with useless wings,
But sometimes when the north wind sings,
And the wild ducks hurtle overhead,
And something stirs that was lost and dead,
It cocks a wary and puzzled eye,
And makes a feeble attempt to fly,
It’s fairly content with the state it’s in,
But it’s not the duck that it might have been.” Anon.

Teach me, Lord, to wait. It takes an exercise in patience.

Teach me, Lord, to wait…that I, too, would hear clearly, follow closely and become what You have purposed me to be!….. An eagle Christian!
