That which is born of God cannot die!
What God births is eternal. I do not have to prop God up over what He has promised or what He is doing. Genesis 22 is the record of God instructing Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac, as a burnt offering. We know that this was a test of Abraham’s obedience to the voice of God. Abraham demonstrated his obedience and faith in God, and the Lord intervened and prevented Isaac from being sacrificed, providing a ram, caught in a nearby thicket for the burnt offering instead.
We can be so familiar with this record that we can easily forget the tremendous emotions and thoughts Abraham must have battled with, as he went on his three day journey to the place that God had chosen for the sacrifice. (There is always a place that God chooses that is unique to each person where He requires a sacrifice – surrender.)
Abraham had one thing settled regarding Isaac’s conception and birth. Against all natural possibility, Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah miraculously when they were well past child bearing years. He was birthed of God, therefore Abraham knew that if he slew Isaac, God would raise him up. That which is birthed of God cannot die! The Lord took Abraham right to the brink, then He sent the angel to stop him slaying his son, having passed the test, but let us not think lightly of the emotions Abraham must have worked through in the trial.
In the moments when we are tried, let us be confident in God fulfilling His word. We must assure our hearts that we are in His “Isaac” plan.
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man that He should lie; neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?”
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
God is on the move! The move is on. Why resist and stagnate? He is looking for a response to His Holy Spirit, a change in my heart’s attitude. As you and I respond and move, we will find the lifestyle promised us that we have long desired, our birthright. The life of Jesus will be manifest in us more and more as we move and live in His presence. Our Heavenly Father is not discouraged by our past failures. He knew all about us before we were in our mother’s womb. He has arranged our circumstances so we can choose to respond to His working with us. As we surrender, our choices will change in line with His glory…….and our Lord will receive all the credit! As we move in line with God’s purpose we shall reap the benefits. “Forget not all His benefits, bless the Lord, O my soul”.
There will be no looking back, no regrets……but we must move! There can be no progress without change.
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His path straight in the wilderness . Let His light shine in darkness. Let His rain fall in the desert.
Remember the account of David and his men fighting the Philistines. The Lord instructed David, 2 Samuel 5:24 “Let it be, when you hear the sound of a rustle in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall stir yourself, for then shall the Lord go out before you, and smite the host of the Philistines”. When God causes a rustle in the mulberry trees, He requires us to arise and follow Him. He will go before us and prepare the way, where there is no way. The move is on!
