Where does my security lie?  The things we lean on and trust in, apart from the Lord Jesus Christ, are all capable of letting us down.  The way God deals with any misplaced security in me is to reveal my insecurities.  Insecurity manifests in my attempts to control a situation.  Control is built on my own insecurity and produces stress and strife.  If I am secure in God I will not be flawed by adverse circumstances or relationships with others who, in my opinion, do not act as I think they should.  I can hand the circumstances, and the people, over to the Lord and rest in the security that my heavenly Father “upholds all things by His power”, not mine!

When my peace is disturbed over something, my first position should be to get alone with God and seek His counsel.  Once my peace is restored I can then address the situation calmly, (only if the Lord requires that of me), and then leave the end result to God and allow Him to do His work.  It is not my place to then attempt to enforce, or control, with my opinions.  Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God”,  Matthew 5:9.

An insecure upbringing often results in the person finding a place of survival in developing independence in themselves and others.  When we come into the ways of the Lord we discover God requires a new way of living that is foreign to us.  Our own standing, independence, self righteousness, understanding, has to be surrendered at the foot of the Cross.  When we entered into salvation, our spiritual journey began when we knew Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Redeemer.  As our journey progresses, we have to make Him Lord of our heart and life.  His desire is to be Lord of  all.  Only as I walk in humility can I find the place of surrender in daily issues of life and relationships.

Let go, and let God!  God’s desire is for us to be living “letters”…..let-ers….. (epistles), known and read of all men, (2 Corinthians 3:2).   Let go, surrender, and let God!

“LET not your heart be troubled……”  John 14:1

LET nothing be done through strife and vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves”….Philippians 2: 3

“LET this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:….” Philippians 2: 5-11.

My security lies in who I am in Christ, not in my job description, position or talent recognised of men, educational achievement or any other identity.  My identity is my security in Christ, who I am in Him.  2 Corinthians 5:21 declares we are the righteousness of God IN  Christ Jesus – “For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”.  This is where my security lies, in Christ alone, the solid Rock.

Hymn – Solid Rock by Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness,

I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain              On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

2  In ev’ry rough and stormy gale my anchor holds within the vale,

When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.

Not earth, nor hell, my soul can move, I rest upon unchanging love,

I trust His righteous character, His counsel, promise and His pow’r.

4  When he shall come with trumpet sound, Oh, may I then in Him be found.

Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.
