Did you know that God has a highway?

Isaiah 40:3-5 instructs us  “The voice of him that cries in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a HIGHWAY for our God.  Every valley shall be exalted, every mountain and hill shall be made low, the crooked shall be made straight and the rough places made smooth.  And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed……”

In my wilderness experiences, (my adverse circumstances of life), God calls me to make a HIGHWAY  for Him.   Florence Horton penned the words to that well known hymn : “We shall see the desert as the rose”.  The inspired verses refer to “The King’s Highway”.

How do I walk on the King’s highway?  How do I prepare the “way of the Lord”?  I can choose to make a sacrifice of praise continually, whether in a desert place or a comfortable one, whether I feel like it, or not.  Exodus 29: 38-43 records God’s instructions for there to be a continuity morning and evening of a sacrificial lamb burnt offering.  Here He promised to meet with the people, speak with them and the tabernacle would be sanctified by God’s glory.  We are in the new covenant now, Jesus paid our debts as the sacrificial Lamb on Calvary:  Hebrews 10:10  “By which we are sanctified through the offering of the  body of Jesus Christ once for all”.    God has perfected His part, now He requires something of me:  the continuity of a sacrifice of praise that He might tabernacle with me and demonstrate His glory through a surrendered vessel.  This is sanctification of the heart.   The tabernacle is where God dwells in my life by His Presence.   This is preparing the way of the Lord, this is the King’s Highway.  No more complaining, no more murmuring, but a heart full of praise for who He is.  As we raise our “Hallelujahs” our hearts are lifted above our circumstances and God is glorified.  His presence amid adversity is sweet and I enjoy fellowship with Him, independent of the circumstance.  The joy of God is not dependent on my circumstances.  It is the abundant life that Jesus promised us as our birthright.

Jesus promised, John 10:10  “……I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.

God knows the true condition of my heart.  I cannot fool Him.  Joy and peace are the infallible hallmarks of His Presence.  They are indicative of the condition of my heart, either by their presence or absence, and my closet walk with God that only He sees.  My “spiritual thermometer”  can emit God’s peace and joy in any circumstance.  I may not be joyful regarding the situation, but the Lord gives me His deep assurance that “All is well” because He is in supreme control.  My part is to stay close, to trust ……and let God be true.  He is who He says He is…..ALMIGHTY GOD.

When my heart makes the continuity of praise, I have made a highway for the Lord to tabernacle with me and His glory is revealed.  This is the King’s Highway.
