Romans 12:2 instructs us : “And do not be conformed  to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect, will of God”.

What you believe rules you, and you live your life according to your believing, whoever you are, whether Christian or Unbeliever.  In today’s world we rarely tolerate equipment that malfunctions.  We either get rid of it, repair it or replace it.  So why then, do we sometimes carry on living our lives repeating the same mistakes, producing the same failures, yet expecting change?  There will be no progress without change.  If what I declare to believe in my life is not working, I need to change my believing.  The above scripture declares that I can be transformed by the renewing of my mind.  I have to get rid of my old mindset and carnal thinking of the natural man – the things that I have allowed to be my natural lifestyle.  God’s word declares right believing, only what He says is true.

Romans 8: 5-8 speaks against our old nature:  “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God,  for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.  So then, they that are in the flesh cannot please God”.

There we have it, when I operate in the old nature, I cannot please God.  When I entered into salvation, the Lord gave me a new heart.  It is now my responsibility to yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, (not my old carnal nature), and operate according to the resurrected, indwelling Christ in me.  This is the mystery Paul spoke of, Colossians 1: 26-27:  “Even the mystery which has been hidden from ages and generations, but now is made manifest to his saints.  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery….which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory”.

2 Corinthians 4: 6-7 agrees and confirms  “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,  (that’s us!),  that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us”.

Christ in me delivers me from what I am in the old nature, and puts me into what HE IS  – all the fullness of God!  It is my responsibility on a daily basis to walk in humility, yield to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and operate in my new nature, the life of Christ – to God be ALL the glory for He “works in me to will, and to do, of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).

I need to exchange my old mindset, my natural , learnt behaviour lifestyle for the mind of Christ. Read Philippians chapter 2.  Here are a few quotes from the chapter:

Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory…

Esteem others better than yourself….

Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus…..who made himself of no reputation, took upon himself the form of a servant……he humbled himself  and became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross….”

Let His death not be in vain!  He died that we might live in all His fullness, to extend God’s kingdom through us, for God’s glory and purposes.  Romans 6:14  “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law, but under grace”.

May this day be a new day for each of us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.   No more condemnation to those in Christ Jesus who walk after the Spirit,  (Romans 8:1).   Our mind and life will be transformed in Christ as we yield to the Holy Spirit’s promptings:  “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus“……  How do I let?  How do I become a “letter” (known and read of all men)?      I humble before the Lord and my fellowmen, I yield, I die to self and wanting my own will above others….”esteeming others better than yourself”.    As I yield, I die to self and the life of Christ comes forth in me by the power of the Holy Spirit.  It’s Christ in me!  Hallelujah!   …….to God be all the glory for the things He has done!   Indeed, we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us!   (Romans 8:37)  Our ordinary lives are transformed as we allow the supernatural life of Christ to live in, and through, us.

No longer a slave to sin, I am a child of God!
