Trust.  A little five letter word with profound meaning.  The challenge is where, or in whom, do I put my trust?  Is it in finance, people, insurance or some other blessing? All these can be transient.  Only God fully knows where we put our trust but His desire is that we learn to fully trust in Him alone, the unchanging One.  Our earthly pilgrimage is a continual process of growing the gift of faith the Lord Jesus gives us.  The apostle Paul said: “………and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”.  Galatians 2:20

Mark 11:22 records Jesus’ instruction and encouragement: …….Have faith in God”.

Complete trust in God, our heavenly Father, is a position we come to incrementally.  It is His purpose to bring His sons and daughters to maturity, learning and building through the school of life experiences: “Whom shall He teach knowledge and whom shall He make to understand doctrine?  Those that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.   For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little”, Isaiah 28: 9-10.

How often do I try to save myself making my own insurances instead of fully trusting the Lord.  God’s word challenges: “For whatsoever is not of faith is sin”, Romans 14:23.  God leaves no wriggle room!

Consider these three positions of a Believer:

1   Careful:     a position where one is full of care and exercising caution.

2   Careless:   a casual lack of sufficient care or attention when needed.

3   Carefree:   fully trusting God, taking the responsibilities He has placed in my life, and enjoying the complete rest spoken of in Hebrews 4.

Complete trust in God will be demonstrated by complete rest in a person’s life.  As we journey through life it is our responsibilty to get to know our Saviour more and more, embracing life’s challenges, learning God’s ways, surrendering ours and proving we can trust Him in every detail of our lives.  We do not have to understand everything.  There are times when our understanding clouds our way.  Here we must bow before our mighty God and allow Him to prove He is who His word declares He is.  This is the garden where trust is grown and proved and we discover yet another facet of heaven’s greatest treasure, all found in the fullness of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.  He ever lives to show us the Father and bring glory to His great name.  He truly is a God of wonders.

A friend struggling to hold something together in their own strength and ability, heard these words from the Lord: “Let it go and My grace will grow”.   As the friend surrendered the situation to the Lord Jesus, they experienced the complete liberation of the freedom only Christ can give.  He is the One who has all strength, grace and wisdom and imparts these divine gifts to us. The storehouse of heaven’s treasures, the fullness of God, have all been invested by the Father in His Son, Jesus Christ.

It was for freedom that Christ has made us free.  Galatians 5:1 exhorts us to enjoy His liberty: “Stand fast in the liberty that Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage”.

Let it go, and My grace will flow!”   Carefree in Christ’s freedom, ever learning to trust Him more.
