All creation has an individual environment in which it thrives.  Plants and trees flourish in the earth, fish thrive in the sea.  What then is the right environment for a Believer to flourish?  Truth.  When we walk in truth, we are devil-proof.  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, John 14:6.  Jesus is the full expression of truth.  When the devil tried to find a weakness in Him, to gain access into His life, he was powerless to do so.  He could find no darkness in Him, no negative thought, or deed, for his fiery darts to attach to.  Jesus said, “The devil comes and finds nothing in me”,  John 14: 30.  Jesus is the Light of the world.  John 3:20 declares, “Everyone that does evil hates the light”.

The devil’s environment consists of lies, bluff, fear, unbelief and everything negative.  When a Believer entertains any of these, the devil can gain a foothold.  Jesus reprimands the Pharisees in John 8:44, “You are of your father, the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

In a divorce court, the judge will usually grant custody of the children to the mother, but visiting rights to the father.  The above scripture declares the devil to be the father of the lie and all things negative, these are his children.  Thus when I entertain any of these negatives, exchanging God’s truths for lies and unbelief, I give the devil visiting rights and a foothold into my life to visit his children.  If I refuse them when presented to me, walking in, and embracing what God has said, then I am devil-proof.  Satan comes and finds nothing in me when I am walking in truth.  Here, secure in my identity in Christ and the finished work of Calvary, I am transparent.  No darkness can abide when I walk in truth.  The devil flees the light. Truth confronts unreality.  The Lord uncovers the unreality in our lives in order for Him to prove who He is – the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Fear is always built on a lie.  Learn to nail the lie and walk in truth.  Refusing to walk in the light of a known way brings a dire consequence of darkness to my life.  Our birthright in Christ Jesus has no place for slavery to fear, unbelief and selfish ambition.  I am a child of God, accepted and beloved of my Heavenly Father.  Jesus paid the ultimate price for my redemption at Calvary.  I owe Him everything for His priceless gift of salvation. Truth is an acquired taste, but once acquired, an abhorrence of all works, and thoughts of darkness can become a lifestyle pleasing to my Father.  I discover that Jesus truly is the joy of living, a spring of life to me as I walk in truth, His light.

We are living in tumultuous times where godly standards are being ignored in favour of evil.  Psalm 37 encourages us not to be anxious over evil doers and workers of iniquity.  God will uphold us in these dark days.  We have His assurance that He will maintain our inheritance in Christ Jesus. May we become signposts for the Cross, living epistles, known and read of all men, a beacon of light for God’s glory, to extend His kingdom here on earth.

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”.

Let us walk in the Light and enjoy our life in Jesus.
