What tumultuous times we are living in!  As we look into the present geopolitical world climate, the deep seated corruption in governments, powerful men’s manipulation of people for selfish and evil ends – all of this could easily result in depression if we do not seek God’s perspective to stabilise reeling emotions.  God’s unchanging word brings the stability we need to journey through these troubled times.  Jesus Christ is our only solid Rock of foundation. He enables us to stand and declare in firm confidence that God is in full control: “The Lord has prepared His throne in the heavens and His kingdom rules over all”,  Psalm 103:19.  Do I believe it?  A divided heart questions God’s rule as it considers situations.  The answer lies in recognising unbelief for what it is instead of choosing to trust God.  “An evil heart of unbelief “ kept the children of Israel out of the Promised Land, (Hebrews 3:12).

When we read Psalm 73 our hearts identify with the Psalmist’s words.  He pours out his distress before the Lord as he considers the blatancy of men with evil agendas that seem to prosper and scornfully question God’s existence.  Only when the Psalmist chooses to change his perspective and seek God’s view of events, does he find peace.  Verse 17 records the change which elevates him out of depression: “Until I went into the sanctuary of God, then I understood their end…”.  Only when we consider God’s perspective on events and what He has declared will we stand firm and secure in Him as our world crumbles around us.  Almighty God will carry us through.  The pages of the Bible are full of His testimonies to past generations declaring the revealing of His strong arm of deliverance and provision to those who know His name.  When in doubt, change your perspective and consider God, not the situation.

Isaiah prophesied of Jesus:  “……unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of HIS GOVERNMENT and peace there shall be no end”,  Isaiah 9: 6-7.

God has not fallen from His throne.  He is in full control.  Ungodly men splutter speeches of green agendas and climate change.  Before God’s word they are ignorant.  Always in full control, He declares: “While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”, Genesis 8:22.  The seasons and our times are in God’s safe hands.

…..God is love.  He that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement, because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment….“, 1 John 4: 16-18

Jesus declared of man: “……for out of the abundance of his heart, his mouth speaks”,  Luke 6:45.  If my heart is rightly relating to the Lord and Jesus is ruling and reigning there, then out of my mouth will come words from His abiding life within.  These will be words of authority and power, Spirit and life.  Jesus spoke with authority into situations.  His words were creative and change ensued.  Why?   He was always in tune with His Father, seeking His will, His words, His acts.  In this position He was a channel of His Father’s power, always acknowledging it was His Father working through Him.  God’s glory was always safe in His hands because He constantly acknowledged Him as the source of all power.  He never took the credit to Himself.

We are called to walk humbly with our God.  A heart rightly related to Him hears His heartcry for the nations.  His Voice of Truth from the abiding life of Christ within can decree with His authority and power creative words that will perform change.  Job 22:28 “Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be established unto you….”.  A God birthed prayer moves from request to decree as He speaks creatively through us in His authority.  It is time to decree and declare over our lives, families, governments and nations what His word has declared in the pages of His holy Word, the Bible – our handbook for a life lived for His glory.

The power of declaration is immense.  The devil flees from God’s word.  He cannot stand, and has no place, in truth and light.

David requested of the Lord: “Teach me your way, O Lord, I will walk in your truth.  Unite my heart to fear your name”,  Psalm 86:11.  Only when my heart is united with the Lord’s will I choose to change my agendas and perspectives for His.  I do not have to accept the world’s view of unfolding events.  Is my heart right with God’s?  The answer is: only when my heart’s voice is silent and the only voice I wish to hear, is the Voice of Truth coming from Christ’s abiding Life within.

Let Your kingdom come, let Your will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven”.
