Paul prays that we would be strengthened with might by the Spirit in the inner man…

Ephesians 3:14-19

14  For this cause I bow my knee unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

What is the Inner Man Paul was speaking about?  It is vital that I understand this because he says in verse 17 that Christ may dwell in my heart by faith and being rooted and grounded in love,  (no more tossed to and fro)  I will be able to comprehend,  (understand and grasp)  what is the breadth, length, depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge which will enable me to be filled with all the fullness of God…WOW!!  What a tremendous declaration of truth.  But do I understand by revelation how this truth will manifest in my life?

Well, returning to the Inner Man.  This is the real me.  The man that only God sees.  The inner man of the heart.  The place of responsibility in my life.  If I do not understand the process that God is working in my life I am living on a roller coaster.  One day up, next day down.  One moment on top, next moment in depression.  My heart is my trouble spot which will take me in my emotions to the heights of excitement and to the depths of despair.  But trouble is not in trouble, but in my hearts attitude to trouble.  The Spirit of God is seeking to teach me how to process these feelings and to stabilise my walk with him and bring a consistent place of abiding in His presence.

Don’t ask God to change your circumstances, he has allowed them so that you can be changed.  If I am to be filled with all the fullness of God I must be emptied of myself!!  By letting the peace of God rule in the inner man of the heart.  Mathew  5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.  Heart purity is seeing God in ALL things, not SOME things, but  ALL things!!

If I do not know how to deal with my hearts attitude to my every day situations and circumstances I will continue to be tossed, ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth.  (2 Timothy 3:7)

King David was a man after God’s own heart…(Acts 13:22)  But this does not mean that David’s heart was pure, But that he knew how to deal with the inner man of the heart when it was errant or in trouble.  1 Samual 30 gives the account of how the Amalekites had taken David’s and the people’s wives and children, smitten and burned the city of Ziklag and David was greatly distressed.  But he encouraged himself in the Lord.  (verse 6) He found no encouragement from those who were with him, they were as distressed as he was and threatened to stone him, but he knew how to seek the heart of God.  Unlike our own heart, the heart of God is always constant, always stable and is true.  He never changes.  This is why we, like David must understand how to encourage ourselves in the Lord, and seek His heart.

The children of Israel in the wilderness, did always err in their hearts and never entered into God’s rest, (Hebrews 4:7)

1 John 3: 19-21  And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.  For if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.  Beloved, if our hearts condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

This is the process that the Holy Spirit is teaching us, and that will enable us to be filled with ALL the fullness of God
